Basic Training in EMDR

EMDR Europe, in co-operation with the EMDR UK & Ireland Association, adopts a rigorous policy of regularly accrediting and monitoring the standards of all EMDR trainers and training courses. Accreditation as an EMDR trainer is the highest standard that the EMDR Europe Association can award and is only granted to the most experienced and skilled clinicians with a proven ability to teach. Only EMDR Europe accredited trainers are allowed to teach the seven day basic EMDR course. All accredited trainers must also regularly submit themselves and their training courses for re-accreditation.

You may find individuals claiming to be EMDR trainers running EMDR courses in the UK or Ireland but they may not be accredited by EMDR Europe and could be teaching a non-accredited course. The content and quality of such courses will not meet the requirements of the EMDR Europe Association, the EMDR UK & Ireland Association or the world-wide EMDR international community. Therefore, if you attend a non- accredited course of basic training you will not be eligible to join the UK & Ireland Professional Association or to subsequently apply to become an EMDR Europe accredited practitioner. Please note also that the awarding of CPD credits does not imply that the training is accredited by the EMDR Europe Association.

Consultant Group

The Yorkshire Region is keen to support existing EMDR Consultants and those who have undertaken the Consultants training, who live or work in Yorkshire, thus aiming to ensure consistency of approach to accreditation of EMDR therapists and provide a forum for asking questions. A group exists to co-ordinate and provide this support. If you wish to be part of this group or know more then please get in touch via the Contacts page.
